I’ve heard about Open Enrollment Florida. What is it and how do I opt-in?

Open Enrollment in Florida is open now and it provides you with an opportunity to review your plan as well as your various options. If you want to make changes to your current plan, you will need to do so during Open Enrollment. The changes that you make will become effective on the following January 1st. Remember, the changes that you make will stay in effect for an entire year. Once the changes go into effect on January 1st, you cannot change them again until the next Open Enrollment, and those changes will not become active until the following January 1st. There are two reasons as to why the changes would not stay in effect for an entire year — 1) you are not up-to-date on your premiums, 2) you are no longer eligible for the benefits being provided to you.

What changes can be made during Open Enrollment?

There are several types of changes that can be made during Open Enrollment. It is very important that you be aware of the changes you can make to help ensure you are getting the most of your package. For starters, you can change your health coverage to and from an individual or family plan. Also, you can add or drop certain health coverage benefits. If you have dependents on your policy that you no longer need coverage for, you can drop them, or if you need to add a dependent, you can do this also. Additionally, it is during Open Enrollment that you can assess your life insurance coverage and make changes to it.

What if I don’t want to make any changes?

There are lots of people in Florida who are satisfied with their current coverage. If you don’t want to make any changes, it is still encouraged that you take a look at your benefits package during Open Enrollment Putnam County FL. By looking at your package, you may become aware of changes that need to be made that you have been overlooking in the past.

Do NOT Make Assumptions When It Comes to Health Insurance

Please take note.

We strongly advise you NOT to passively renew your health care coverage as you will be paying more (if you are subsidized).  We are seeing a drastic decrease in premium for those that are subsidized when they work with us to resubmit their application.

When clients come to us, we are able to help them manage the renewal process instead of just allowing their policy to passively renew with a huge increase. When we resubmit their Marketplace application, it drops their rate “below” what they are paying this year. In some cases, we have clients paying $0 for coverage!
